Green Mission Ruse: Young People Taking Action for a Greener City
On 23 September 2026, representatives of the International Youth Center – Ruse visited a vocational high school in Ruse, where they introduced students to the opportunities, initiatives and activities offered by the Center.
A key focus of the meeting was the upcoming “Green Mission Ruse – School Campaign for Separate Waste Collection”, which will give students the opportunity to become actively involved.
What is “Green Mission Ruse”?
The initiative, organized by the International Youth Center – Ruse, aims to promote environmental awareness and responsible attitudes towards the environment among young people.
The campaign will go beyond simply talking about environmental issues. Students will take part in practical activities related to separate waste collection, allowing them to see how small everyday actions can contribute to positive change.
The initiative includes information sessions in schools, the participation of approximately 15 classes, a creative workshop using recycled materials, and an exhibition showcasing the items created by the students.
Why is the Green Mission important?
Because taking care of our city and the environment starts with the everyday habits of each of us. Through the campaign, we want young people not only to understand why waste should be collected separately, but also to become active participants – to take action, set an example and inspire others to do the same.
During the meeting, representatives of the International Youth Center – Ruse also presented some of the other opportunities available at the Center, including non-formal education, sports and cultural initiatives, creative activities, volunteering, youth participation and events where young people can develop their skills, ideas and talents.
The “Green Mission Ruse” activity is implemented under a grant agreement within project 021/2026 “Young People in Action”, funded by the Youth Centers Financing Programme in the Republic of Bulgaria (2026–2028) of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
“Green Mission Ruse” starts with young people, but the change is for all of us.
