Lightning Reflex: Youth Initiative Energized Students in Ruse

Inspiring, energetic, and exceptionally organized—this is the best way to describe the youth from the 10th “A” grade of the “Yuri Gagarin” Vocational School of Mechanical Engineering – Ruse, who organized and implemented their fun youth initiative under the slogan “Lightning Reflex.”

The primary driving force behind the event was the students themselves. They not only came up with the original idea but also actively participated in the overall organization, prepared the gaming space, and explained the rules to their classmates. The young people demonstrated enviable initiative and responsibility, proving once again that when they are trusted, they can work wonders.

The role of the team from the International Youth Center – Ruse was entirely supportive. Acting as facilitators, the youth workers assisted the organizers, ensured a safe and positive environment for the game, and provided a symbolic prize for the winner.

The competitive challenge pitted participants against each other in pairs. Upon a given signal, each of them had to display maximum concentration and lightning-fast reflexes to grab an object placed on the table before their opponent.

In addition to speed and alertness, the game demanded substantial self-control and strict adherence to the rules. Despite its competitive nature, the race took place in an exceptionally positive atmosphere. The participants showed strong motivation, but also immense respect for one another, demonstrating true sportsmanship.

This youth initiative proved that competitive games are an excellent tool for developing vital social skills, discipline, and team spirit among young people. We congratulate the tenth-graders on their fantastic idea and organization, and we look forward to many more such spontaneous and empowering student-led initiatives!
