The International Youth Center – Ruse Supported a Youth Initiative for Education

The youth initiative “With Education Towards a Better Life” developed and implemented by young people with the support of the International Youth Center – Ruse team, took place in the “Selemetia” district. It brought together representatives of vulnerable groups and the Roma community around the cause of better access to education, language literacy, and expanded opportunities for personal and professional development.

During the meeting, the young initiators—supported by the educational mediators from the International Youth Center – Ruse and the health mediator from the Municipality of Ruse—held informal discussions with the participants. The focus of the conversations was the importance of regular school attendance, completing one’s education, and gaining a good command of the Bulgarian language as the foundation for successful social and professional realization.

Through personal examples, open dialogue, and shared experiences, the young individuals motivated their peers to continue their education and stay active in community life. The meetings provided an opportunity for participants to share their questions and challenges related to schooling and daily communication.

At the end of the initiative, T-shirts featuring the International Youth Center – Ruse logo were distributed. They served as a symbol of belonging to a community that firmly believes education is the key to more opportunities, personal growth, and active civic participation.

The positive feedback and active participation from the young people and their families highlighted the clear need for such initiatives to continue. Consequently, a follow-up meeting is being planned to build upon the dialogue started and to further promote education, language literacy, and social inclusion.
