Youth Initiative “Bridge Between Generations” Connected Youth and Seniors in the City of Ruse

On April 29, 2026, on the occasion of the European Day of Solidarity between Generations, the International Youth Center – Ruse organized and conducted the inspiring initiative “Bridge Between Generations.” The event was marked by shared emotions, mutual respect, and a genuine desire by the young people to gift attention and smiles.

The core driving force behind the initiative was the enthusiastic volunteers from the “White Swallows” squad of Yordan Yovkov Secondary School – Ruse, who joined forces with the creative energy of the youth from the “ART VIBE” club at the IYC – Ruse. With great care and heart, they crafted colorful cards with warm messages, bookmarks, and drawings.

These symbolic gifts were prepared specifically for the residents of the “Vazrazhdane” Care Home for the Elderly as an expression of attention and appreciation for their life experience.

To make the gathering even more exciting, the team from the International Youth Center had prepared a themed crossword puzzle. The seniors accepted the challenge with great interest, and every correct answer was rewarded with a small gift—one of the pieces crafted by the students and art club members.

This playful element not only energized the participants but also provided a natural spark for conversations and shared memories, turning the day into a true celebration of communication and continuity.

The “Bridge Between Generations” initiative proved that when young people take a leading role in social causes, the boundaries between generations dissolve. Through the joint efforts of the “White Swallows” volunteers and the “ART VIBE” participants, the youth community in Ruse demonstrated that solidarity is not just a concept, but a tangible act of kindness that brings real change.
